News for June 2004

The 1/4 Inch Microbomb collection has been officially re-released on Manta Ray Records!

January 2002

1/4 Inch Microbomb has completed the recording of EXPLODER, a new Cd to be released in January of 2002.  This new offering includes four previously unreleased songs recorded in QIM's own studio, as well as four live tracks recorded in New Jersey in fall of 2001.

This recording was nearly a year in the making, and nearly didn't happen at all.  After a yearlong hiatus, QIM played a show in the backwoods of New Jersey, mostly a set of older songs that were still fresh enough in memory that they were easily brought up to speed for live performance.  It was after this show, that the band members talked about the songs that were written prior to QIM calling it a day, and never put down on tape.  All agreed that these songs were of far superior quality to anything else they had previously done, and that it would be a shame if they were never heard.

Finally in December of 2001, Dennis, Paul and John began the process of recording in Dennis's studio space, which due to a broken heater was incredibly frigid(about 30 deg faren).  Once the drum tracks were laid down after two nights of chattering teeth and nearly frostbitten hands, Paul and John went to John's mixing/mastering studio to work on the guitars, vocals and bass.  After a few days of trying a few new tricks, viola, EXPLODER was born, featuring a production quality and overall polish that stood in stark contrast to QIM's earlier releases.

The CD will be initially released on MP3.com as a DAM cd in January 2002.  The track list will be as follows:

Reunite, Revive, Revile
Drol Si Sesuj
The Smell of Creosote
Necronomicon
Halfway to Atlanta (live)
Tick (live)
Vomit Trail (live)
Triax (live)

Where QIM goes from here is unknown - surely there will be more music to be written and released - and the possibility of occasional shows is open as well.  Meanwhile, enjoy EXPLODER, it's QIM's finest effort by far....
